All I need is love...but if you're offering...

Hey friends and fambly!

Picture
A few of you have been asking for a Hanukkah / Birthday / Christmas gift list from me, so I figured I'd streamline the process and put it online for you to access whenever you need it!  There are three categories: expensive gifts, less expensive gifts, and things NOT to buy.  If you have any questions, just email or call me!

Expensive Gifts

Canon 5D Mark II

Picture
For years I've been borrowing or renting professional digital cameras, and I've got the bug.  I need one.  I want one.  And the Canon 5D Mark II is the king daddy of them all.  Read the stellar review from Wired.com and you'll know all about it.

The official Canon website has a link to 'find a retail store,' and I would recommend buying this baby either lightly used or refurbished w/a guarantee.

$2,700 (new)

Athens Locally Grown

Picture
Athens Locally Grown is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) effort here in Athens, and I've signed up.  Local farmers grow food and I get an email every Sunday with what they've got to offer that week.  I write back with what I'd like to get, and it's ready for me to pick up on Thursday.  And guess what?  They offer gift certificates.  I'd love for you to help me eat local, eat healthy, and start cooking for myself!

Gift certificates start at $1.  I expect to spend about $30 a week on vegetables, meats, and other fresh foods.  So if you'd like to sponsor me for a few months, the total would be about $250.

Cookware

Picture
I really need to start cooking at home, and getting food from the farmer's market is a great start.  But my pots and pans...well let's just say they've seen better days.  I'm afraid they might be giving me cancer.

I'd love some new pots and pans.  I've selected this Calphalon 8-piece set, but anything comparable would do.  I'm a cooking n00bie so you probably know a lot better than I do.  I chose Calphalon because they recently sponsored a project with the NMI.

$199-$299 from Calphalon.com or TJ Maxx

North Face Jacket

Picture
I've needed a new ski jacket for years now.  I'd really love to get a new North Face jacket like the Men's Condor Triclimate Jacket.  I'm a medium, and I like a red outer shell.

$275 (but you might find it for less elsewhere)

M-Audio FastTrack Pro

Picture
As you know, I've been recording friends and family since high school.  All these years I've been using a Tascam US-122 to connect my mics and other instruments.

Sadly, I had to put my Tascam USB Audio Interface "out to pasture."  Now I'm left without a way to record vocals or instruments.

The M-Audio FastTrack Pro is very similar to my Tascam, and would allow me to start recording again!

$199.97 from Sweetwater.com

OR: Samson G-Track USB Microphone

Picture

The Samson G-Track USB Microphone and Audio Interface would get the job done for me, and it's cheaper than the audio interface above!  While I'd prefer the above model, this would suffice!

$149.97 at Sweetwater.com

Casual Shoes from Urban Outfitters

Picture
I like these Jersey Knit Plimsoll Sneakers from Urban Outfitters.  I'm a size 11.

$45 from UrbanOutfitters.com

Less expensive gifts

Gap

Picture
Generally, I love clothes from Gap.  I like simple stuff.  Blue is my favorite color to wear.  Collared shirts are cool.  Simple ties are cool.  I need socks and underwear, too.

$10-30 per item

Netflix Subscription

Picture
I spent $357 on movies this past year, and a good portion of that was DVD rentals.  Danielle and I would really love a subscription to Netflix, and they offer a few different packages for holiday gifts.

$53.94 -- $8.99/month for 6 months (1 dvd at a time)
$107.88 -- $8.99/month for a year (1 dvd at a time)

Wired Magazine

Picture
One of my favorite magazines (still in print) is Wired magazine.  I'd love a subscription, and one year is only $10!

Check out the magazine and order the subscription.

$10 from Wired.com

A new football

Picture
This past football season I lost my football!  I can't start the next Georgia season without one.  I like leather, but composite works too.  I found a Wilson Composite Official Size Football at Amazon.com for $16.  Not too bad.

$15-$20 online or at Dick's Sporting Goods

Aviators

Picture
I lost my $5 imitations about a month ago and I'd really love some new ones.  The real sunglasses from Ray-Ban.com costs about $99, but I am not picky.  Cool imitations work as well!  You can find them at malls in kiosks for <$15.

$15-$99 at malls or Ray-Ban.com

Socks

Picture
I'm still wearing the same socks I wore in high school.  I'm almost 24, people.  It's time for an update.

These Nike no-show cotton socks are perfect.  I need as many as possible.

$15 for 6 pairs at Nike.com

Long-johns

Picture
I'm going to Breckenridge, Colorado for Spring Break with a few buddies--and last year my legs were cold!  REI.com has some great ski clothing, but really anything that's not itchy will do.

$45 (or less!)

iTunes Gift Card

Picture
I listen to a lot of music.  I like to support the artists who create the music I love, but it gets expensive!  Since last December, I've spent $167 on iTunes music and haven't downloaded a single song illegally!  (Thanks to Mint.com for the financial info)

I'd love a gift card of any amount!  You can find them in stores like Target or online from Apple.

$10, $15, $25, $50 from Apple.com

Things NOT to buy

iPhone 3GS

Picture
  1. My plan is up, so I'm due for an upgrade with a big discount if I buy it myself.
  2. I've heard rumors about the next iPhone coming out soon, I think I'm going to wait for that one in the spring.

American Eagle Apparel

Picture
Danielle has decided that American Eagle clothes and I...well let's just say we're not a good fit anymore.  If you're going for clothes, check out the stores I recommend above!  Love you Danie. :)
