Experience

Capstone Student, UGA New Media Institute
Athens, GA — 2006-2009
Working on projects from Web 2.0 apps to mobile media content creation, the New Media Institute has inspired me to pursue a career involving new media.  In the NMI I have built and programmed a fully-functioning RFID digital picture frame (for which we now hold a patent), constructed a digital tourism environment in the virtual world SecondLife for a real-world company, represented the NMI at the GSMA Mobile Innovation Marketplace conference in Atlanta, and created and co-hosted a weekly web show about tech news called New Media Update (http://newmediaupdate.net/).  I was also able to secure the donation of 13 XO Laptops from the OneLaptop-PerChild Campaign.  I traveled down to San Luis, Costa Rica to integrate the laptops into the lives of 45 elementary school children.

Athens, GA — 2008-2009
Working with professionals in the IT department at the University of Georgia, IT Planning & Decision Support (ITPDS) is an advisory committee to the office of the Chief Information Officer.  I performed database management, completed several web design projects, and solved general IT issues for the department.

Marketing Intern, Hitachi Consulting
Atlanta, GA — Summer 2006
As an intern at Hitachi Consulting, my job varied widely from the graphic design of marketing materials to search engine optimization (SEO).  I was also involved in marketing research with the firm, writing reports on competitors and partners of Hitachi Consulting.

Apple Campus Representative, Volt, Inc.
Athens, GA — 2005-2007
One of only two campus representatives at UGA, this highly competitive job entailed frequent presentations on Apple software, hardware, and other products.  I determined what software packages best fit certain schools within the University, then made presentations to the faculty of that school.  I also provided tech support and sales advice for students and teachers on campus, and executed campus-wide marketing campaigns.

President & Web Developer, UGA Accidentals
Athens, GA — 2005-2008
Aside from singing tenor and loving every minute with these guys, I was elected to serve as the president and business manager of this award-winning UGA vocal ensemble for three years in a row.  I handled all fiscal planning and decisions, and organized booking for local, regional and national performances and competitions.  Under my leadership, the group recorded and released two albums, saw record profits, greatly increased on and off campus brand recognition, and competed nationally three times.
